Kenya Red Cross Society (KRCS) is the largest humanitarian organisation in Kenya. Its vision is to be the most effective, most trusted and self-sustaining humanitarian organisation in the country.

KRCS was appointed by the Kenya Country Coordinating Mechanism (KCM) as the Civil Society Principal Recipient (PR) to manage resources under the Country’s Global Fund Round 10 Grant for HIV and will implement through 52 selected Sub Recipients (SRs).

The Global Fund for AIDS, Tuberculosis and Malaria (GFATM) is now the world’s leading financing mechanism that addresses three diseases in low resource countries.

Kenya has for a number of years now been a beneficiary of funds from the Global Fund against Malaria, TB and HIV and AIDS.
The KRCS is currently seeking consulting services of skilled and experienced professionals to facilitate the development of IEC materials for MARPs National Programme in Kenya.
The consultant will work closely with the National Aids/STI Program (NASCOP) in the development of the said materials.
Purpose of the Consultancy
The aim of this consultancy is to facilitate the development of IEC materials for MARPs National Programme in Kenya.
 
Specific Objectives
  1. Conduct literature review to identify existing IEC materials that are adaptable to the Kenyan situation.
  2. To facilitate a consultative process for the development of IEC materials content.
  3. To support development or review of the various IEC materials agreed upon in the consultative process.
  4. To facilitate the design, layout and production of the various IEC materials based on the results of the whole process.
Deliverables
  1. Response proposal detailing the technical and financial bids.
  2. A multi-stakeholder workshop for materials development.
  3. Report of the materials to be developed and adapted.
  4. Review and finalise after pre-test.
  5. Final IEC materials for printing in CD and printable version.
Timing and Duration
Date of commencement is tentatively scheduled for 27/12/2012.
The workshops are expected to be carried out in January 2013.
Final products shall be submitted to KRCS and NASCOP by March 2013.
 
Qualifications
The lead consultant should posses the following qualifications:
  • A Post Graduate Degree in Communication, Materials Development or the Equivalent. Additional training in Public Health, Education or Social Sciences is essential.
  • At least 5 years experience in Materials Development work preferably in HIV and AIDS context in Kenya and/or Africa.
  • At least 2 years experience in MARPs in Materials Development work in Kenya and/or Africa.
  • Experience of IEC development for Global Fund’s projects or similar projects will be an added advantage.
  • Good facilitation and presentation skills.
All Proposals Must Include the Following:
The proposals must meet the following minimum requirements:
  • Technical and financial proposals in different envelopes clearly marked, enclosed and sealed in one plain envelope.
  • Attach a copy of current registration.
  • A copy of certificate of Incorporation.
  • Copy of tax compliance certificate.
  • Copies of CVs.
  • At least three reference from previous and/or current clients.
